Installation Instructions
Before you begin, you will need to determine if inbound power supply is AC or DC, then follow the associated section below.
AC Power Supply Installation
- Open the Control Panel.
- Using a Volt Meter, identify a 110v-264v connection on the Control Panel’s Power Supply Transformer.
DO NOT PROCEED if you cannot identify a 110v-264v connection as you risk damaging the Pioneer Monitoring Unit. Call immediately for assistance (800) 218-4172
- Turn the power OFF using the safety disconnect - Turn off power to the Compactor Control Panel before attempting to install, connect, disconnect or service the Current Sensor, Power Supply, or Current Sensor.
- Connect Positive (WHITE) & Neutral (BLACK) wires of the Multi-Conductor Power Cable to the Control Panel Power Supply Transformer.
- Plug the Multi-Conductor Power Cable into the AC-DC Power Adaptor, then plug the ACDC Power Adaptor into the Pioneer Monitoring Unit using the integrated barrel-plug connector.
- Continue to UNIFIED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
DC Power Supply Installation
- Open the Control Panel.
- Using a Voltmeter, identify a 5v-24v connection on the Control Panel Power Supply Transformer.
DO NOT PROCEED if you cannot identify a 5v-25v connection as you risk damaging the Pioneer Monitoring Unit. Call immediately for assistance (800) 218-4172.
- Turn the power OFF using the safety disconnect - Turn off power to the Compactor Control Panel before attempting to install, connect, disconnect or service the Current Sensor, Power Supply, or Current Sensor.
- Connect Positive (RED) & Neutral (BLACK) wires of the Multi-Conductor Power Cable to the Control Panel Power Supply Transformer.
- Plug the Multi-Conductor Power Cable into the Pioneer Monitoring Unit using the integrated barrel-plug connector.

Unified Installation Instructions
- Place magnetic base of Cellular Antenna onto the top of the Control Panel or any permanent, magnetic surface.
DO NOT PLACE ANTENNA ON ANY SURFARCE THAT WILL BE HAULED AWAY DURING SERVICE.
- Wire the copper end of the Cellular Antenna through the bottom of the Control Panel.
- Insert the Cellular Antenna’s copper male SMA connector into the Pioneer Monitor Unit’s copper female SMA. Tighten securely into place.
- Clip the Current Sensor around ONE of the primary inbound power cables running into the Compactor’s electrical power system/motor starter inside the Control Panel. (a) If the Current Sensor has a directional arrow, ensure that arrow is pointing in the direction of electrical flow towards the Compactor, and not towards the inbound power source from the building/utility provider. (b) If a Phase Inverter is in use, place it on the cable before the inverter.
- Insert the Current Sensor’s 3.5mm jack into the Pioneer Monitor Unit’s right port.
- Place the Pioneer Monitor Unit securely INSIDE the Compactor Control Panel Box with the integrated magnetic mounts.
- Turn the Service Disconnect back to “ON”.
- Pioneer Monitor Unit LED Status Indicator should trigger – see Status Indicator Lights (refer to page 4 for a full list of Indicator Lights and their meaning) i. Note: (The Status Indicator may change to different colors during the initializing process. Process may take up to 5 minutes as the device registers with the cellular network.)
- When the Status Indicator is a solid Green, the initializing process is complete, and the Monitor is ready for use.
- Run the compactor and ensure the Cyan Recording Data Indicator, followed by Blue Sending Data to Server Indicator, both trigger.
- If included, place the Pickup Confirmation Beacon directly onto the Compactor in a secure location where it is unlikely to be knocked off or removed during service.
- PRIOR TO LEAVING THE SITE, call (800) 218-4172 to validate the installation with a member of the DSQ team and/or troubleshoot any issues. Payment may be withheld until this step has been completed.
- Complete the Installation Checklist
